【Tomonokai programs】FAQ

 (Last modified 2026/2/20)

Before Application

Q. What is the International students' role in Tomonokai programs?

A. We would like to ask you to become an active communication leader.

Q. How do I get to the meeting place on the program day? What transportation methods should I use on the program day?

A. Please use public transportation methods e.g. busses, trains (not taxis and express trains). If other methods need to be taken to get to the program, we will inform the participants by email beforehand, so please follow the instructions.

Q. Can I speak Japanese during Tomonokai's program?

A. In English speaking programs, Japanese is prohibited. On the other hand in some programs Japanese skills may be required. Each program is different so please check the "Requirements" for language rules before you apply.

Q. I live in Osaka. Can I apply for programs taking place in Tokyo?

A. We can only consider applications from applicants living in the eligible area.
How to find the eligible area: our program title has brackets stating the eligible area.
For example: 【Kanto】Indoor program with Junior high school students
This would mean Kanto living applicants (Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa etc) are eligible.
Reason: we will not be able to cover travel expenses for those who are traveling from an ineligible area.

Q. What is my membership number? Where can I find it?

A. Once you register for "t-news for global" membership, within 10days you will start receiving our newsletters.
If you open the newsletter, at the top, next to your name your 6 or 8 digit membership number will be stated.
Please keep your membership number noted somewhere!

A. If you are leaving Japan completely (not planning to come back, closing your bank account), please contact us immediately.
